Good question. How does one stay positive in a sea of negativity? After all, there are plenty of things to be angry, scared and fearful about. I would love to cite the latest news story; however, it’s more likely to distract than help.
Yet, a clue is already given in the last statement. I will explain it, shortly. First, I would like to share a story that may help with staying positive in a sea of negativity. You’ll see where I’m going, shortly. Let’s start with the facing of a giant.
What the heck are you talking about? Continue reading “How To Stay Positive in a Sea of Negativity?”
How do you react when someone says something, negative about what you are doing? Each person has a gift in certain areas of their lives. For me, I have a gift for writing; however, my singing is a different story. What about you?
Does it bother me, if someone says something about my singing skill? No, it does not bother me; as I already know the truth. It’s why I sing for fun and not try singing on American Idol. Though I’d appreciate Simon’s commentary; it is not necessary.
Did you know there is a difference between a negative comment that helps a person; as opposed to a negative comment that only destroys. An open rebuke is not the same thing as a destructive comment.
What if, I say that I’d prefer an open rebuke over a loving comment that is never spoken. Confused? What am I talking about? Shall we begin with an illustration? Continue reading “Are You Afraid of Negativity?”
What comes to mind, when you hear the word, “edify”? Is it just a kind word? How about a positive pep talk? Would you think of constructive criticism?
Is there more to edifying someone than a kind word or compliments. Though a kind word can go a long way; an apt answer or a constructive word can do a great deal, for someone in need.

One day, a friend shared an interesting comment. “It’s just a hobby,” says my friend. My friend was referring Inspiration Point. “How so?”, I asked. The response was hardly pleasant or encouraging.
Sadly, I’ve had similar conversations with this person. He simply doesn’t see the value of the work done on this blog. How shall I respond to such negativity? I can’t control what someone chooses to think or believe. However, I can do something about my own responses.
I could choose from one of three options. Though there may be others; I will focus on three types of responses. Shall I play “The Victim”? Shall I take on the role of “The Reporter”? How about a “Hope Filled” view of the situation? Continue reading “Dealing With Negativity: What’s Your Perspective?”
When I created a video called “The Emperor’s New Clothes: After the Parade“, I felt a need to share my own personal story. I could identify with the Emperor’s staff. As a kid, I struggled with a fear of negative criticism. For me, it seems all criticisms were the same–DESTRUCTIVE. It was so intense, I feared going through my first work evaluation.
If my friends are reading this article, they’d be surprised. To them, I’m very open and receptive, these days. How did this happen? How did I overcome my fear of criticisms? Continue reading “Dealing With Negativity – Overcoming A Fear of Criticism”
