No Mother Is Perfect

Good or bad, no mother is perfect

Did you have a perfect mother? I had a good mother; however, I wouldn’t say “perfect”. It is not easy to raise a child born with serious disabilities; especially in the 1960s. The Internet was a long way from being useful and you can forget about manuals. For my mother and father, it was a definite challenge. Yes, we did zigged when we should have zagged!

How about you? It may be that you were not born with physical limitations; however, you have your own set of issues. My mother was not perfect. She had a very sharp tongue and suffered from excessive anxiety. I was the perfect son for her. I hope you’re picking up on the sarcasm.

From my perspective, it was no picnic! My mother was very critical and quick to remind me, of past failures. I grew frustrated with her nagging and I did not know what to do. My only tool was to argue back, at her. Though frustrating, I did love my mother.

Did you notice the past tense used in the above paragraphs? My mother passed away, a couple of weeks ago. Thankfully, I had the opportunity to experience a healed relationship with my mother. I’d like to share how God healed my heart and helped healed my relationship, before it’s too late.

Raise A Hallelujah! Praising God In The Middle Of The Storm!

Don’t be afraid to praise God, in the midst of your storm!

Are you going through a storm in your life? It may be that the idea of singing “Raise A Hallelujah!” in the middle of a pending tragedy or when one is going through mourning sounds weird. I personally do know the challenge of giving praise to God, Almighty when facing sad news. It’s not easy!

How can I praise Jesus when I am hurting? My mother is in a nursing home with dementia? How about “Our children are in the hospital and could die of a nasty viral infection?” If I took the time, this list can easily grow. The idea of praising God when one is suffering seem to be a natural contradiction.

Does praising God in the middle of a storm really work? Yes, it does work and I’d like to share my perspectives on this challenging endeavor. It is certainly possible; especially if you ask God for help.

Unlikely Help: The Five Families – How God Used A Book To Heal

What does the Mafia has to do with ….?

What is this? What does the Mafia or La Cosa Nostra has to do with healing? I can assure you that it is not of their doing. Rather, it has much to do, with a book called “The Five Families” by Selwyn Raab. With God, I have learned to expect the unexpected when it comes to reading or other avenues. This book detailing the history of the notorious Cosa Nostra is no difference.

I’d encourage you to listen to the podcast and continue reading today’s blog post. I trust that you’ll find the podcast to be interesting. With understanding comes forgiveness! With understanding comes healing and appreciation! Let not the past dictate your future.

Hidden amongst the stars are cloaked battleships

What am I talking about? Am I comparing a simple piece of cloth to something out of an old Star Trek episode? What does an old Romulan or Klingon cloaking device has to do with intercessory prayer? It’s more than you may think. I would like to invite you to listen to the embedded podcast and continue reading.
