Let Your Heart Not Be Troubled. There’s Hope!

It is easy to get caught in the constant barrage about what’s happening in Ukraine. Though I don’t watch cable news, it’s easy to find out what is happening on the Internet. It’s enough to fill anyone’s heart with anxiety and fear. You may be tempted to feel helpless amidst the stories of war. It doesn’t have to be this way!

You do not have to live in fear and terror of what may come. As the content creator for both this blog site and my YouTube channel, it would be easy to get preoccupied with catering to what seems a popular topic. However, life does go on and you do not need yet another diatribe on Ukraine.

I would like to offer a different perspective than living in fear and anxiety. I would like to encourage you to keep reading find out or listen to the podcast that’s accompanying this blog post. Fear Not!

This episode is available on all major podcasting platform

Contrary to popular myth, it is not the end of the world and life does go on. The streets are not filled with zombies or whatever you’re imagining. There is a reason that Jesus warned his disciples to take heed to what they listen to. It’s because our hearts can easily be weighed down with fears and anxiety.

In Matthew 24, Jesus is telling the disciples of what is to come in their time and future generations. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. Kingdoms will rise up against kingdoms. Nations will rise up against nations. Many hearts will be weighed down in fear and trembling. Yet, the followers were to look up and look Jesus.

Go read that passage for yourself. It’s not the only time that we are told “Fear Not!”. We are supposed to put our trust in Christ Jesus. If you’re in Christ then you need not be afraid by the turmoil reported by the news. Heck, it would likely do you and others some good to turn off the news.

Do you know that the weather is getting warmer? Go outside and get some fresh air and leave the news and social media behind. It will help you to take your mind off what’s in the news. If you do run into a zombie then direct him to New England. I’ve a friend who can take care of it. Paul’s a professional! 😉

Wisecracks aside, I’ve a more practical idea. Why not pray and seek God and spend time, with Him. Here’s a seriously fun idea. You can combine walking outside while praying in the Spirit. There’s also the option of listening to Christian music when walking.

Spending time in God’s Word is another option. Except, you should give Ezekiel 38 & 39, a rest. Yes, I know all about it and I like that passage. However, I do know when to give certain things, a rest. Ask the Holy Spirit about what to read and let Jesus guide you.

Here’s another solution that can help; especially if you have the troubles in the Ukraine on your heart. Ever think of praying for the refugees in that area? How about praying for God’s intervention in that situation and the exposing of the culprits. You can also pray for Taiwan.

How do you go about this? You could contact an organization called “Intercessors for America“. From what I’ve seen, they are pretty active and feature a live prayer line through Zoom and YouTube. Another option is to join a local prayer group at your church or an online prayer through Zoom. Prayer is powerful and much is accomplished through persistent prayers.

Of course, there are more tangible options. I understand there’s a Red Cross for Ukraine and Samaritan Purse are doing their best to help with the refugees. Why am I mentioning these things? You do not have to feel powerless and unable to do something.

What if the above items don’t appeal to you? Fear Not! Sometimes, the best thing you can do is to give a kind word of encouragement. You can continue to live because the world has not ended. Go read a book or watch a fun movie. You could also spend some time with family and friends. I think you get the idea.

You can also do what I’m planning to do. VidIQ is hosting a livestream called “Creators for Peace”. I’m guessing the idea is to learn how content creators can be a help via the community that we serve. There is always something to learn!

As I pointed out, Jesus is always available for you. Don’t be afraid to pray and talk with God. You can trust God, the Father to lead you in the right direction. For some, it will be an opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus. Let the Holy Spirit direct your step.

  1. UPDATE: On Friday, I found out what the guys at VidIQ are doing. They are raising funds to help the children and family affected by the war. Here’s a link to their donation page: https://creatorsforpeace.

They’re asking YouTubers, podcasters and bloggers to help in raising awareness of can be done. It’s why you’ll see the #creatorsforpeace on YouTube.

It is a good effort and worth helping in. However, I’m not too keen on Unicef. If you’d prefer it then go to the link above. Otherwise, you can go to Samaritan’s Purse at this link: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/our-ministry/ukraine-response/?utm_source=Bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=m_YYUK-B22V&utm_content=Ukraine-LP&msclkid=95fe7b531dd913a63afc1964040109c3&utm_term=samaritan%20purse%20ministries These people need all help that can be gotten.
