What would you do, if a loved one is stricken with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease? It’s not an easy situation and it can be an emotionally rough battle for the family and friends. Though she hasn’t been diagnosed, my mother is demonstrating the early signs of dementia.
Thankfully, I live in a community where I can reach out and get the support of friends and family. I live in a community filled with seniors; they know and understand.
My situation is in sharp contrast to many family that are going through a similar situation. For these people, it can be a long journey that can leave one feeling isolated and afraid. They typically don’t need a medical journal on Alzheimer or a sermon on healing.
How about hug of understanding?
It’s not easy to write a book and get it published. It’s definitely an uphill battle and it’s why I’m reviewing Donna M. Hayes’ book. According to Amazon, “Reflections: A Caretaker’s Battle with Alzheimer’s Disease” was published in October 2014.
A couple of months ago, I had met Donna at Shore Vineyard Church. She heard that I’ve published my first book. During our conversation, she spoke of her own book. Donna did not know that we had something in common.
I read the book’s Preface and I scanned through Donna’s book. It is certainly worth the money. I was intrigued by her storytelling that I brought the electronic version of her book.
Let’s face it. It’s a battle and I like Donna’s take on this dreaded disease. Since I’m at the start of the battle, I can appreciate what Donna is saying. From my reading, I can see traces of pearls of wisdom laced throughout the book. I will leave the readers to decide, for themselves.
I would definitely recommend this book, if you’re just starting your journey of caring for a loved one. You can buy her book on Amazon. Here’s the page for Donna’s book.
I hope this review is helpful, to you. I would like to try to review other books for my blog, Inspiration Point. In considering this idea, Donna’s book definitely came to mind. It fits a lot of what I’m doing on this blog site. I hope that you do buy it and it proves to be a blessing to you.
